The Lion Heart Band

The Lion Heart Band

This week our artist feature is The Lion Heart Band. On a journey up to the high desert, Photographer Nova Images stumbled across their set at the Red Dog Saloon in Pioneertown.

"Conflicted on where I wanted to go snap some photography, Anza-Borrego seemed a little too far for a last minute destination. I decided to head up to Pioneertown.  I have never been even though it is a quick 30 min drive from home. The old western architecture caught my eye, but in the distance, I heard live music playing. I came across the Red Dog Saloon and a live band performing.  Their sound was captivating, their look was eye catching and the energy and aura was all positive, welcoming and addicting. I snapped many photos while enjoying their set. Talking to the band members after, I can see that they were genuinely good people with a positive message for all. The universe put me at the right place and time to meet The Lion Heart Band. " - Nova Images

 THE LION HEART BAND

Q:  How long have you’ve been playing music and what made you fall in love with it?

A:
I grew up in a family of 8 kids. Both of my parents are musicians. My dad plays the bass and sings and my mom plays drums and sings. Music was my Life. I started professionally pursuing a career in music over 10years ago. I left pre-med school, & moved to LA in 2012. I promised myself that I wouldn’t work another job outside of music, and that there was no plan B, I’d make it in music and that was final in my mind. And after all this time I’m beginning to experience the fruits of investing into my music pursuit. My song “Send That Ca$h” describes a bit of my journey to get to where I am today.

My love for music is really a love for film,Movies, storytelling. Some of my favorite songs are from movie soundtracks. I am a very visual person so I like to produce my sound to create a foundation for the listener’s imagination to take them to where the music leads. That’s why a lot of my music sounds very cinematic. I don’t want you to just hear my version of the West, I want to take you there.
Q:  How has this tour for your new album been?

A:  We’ve been touring the West Coast since November 2022. Playing my Glory West II album. Just recently on Sept 1st 2023, the fellas and I (Jonathan Burx, bass player, & Kenny Ramirez - drummer) released the live version of the album on vinyl and streaming. Recorded live in Los Angeles CA. We were pleasantly humbled by the amount of support we’ve been getting from all you fine folk, on how much you dig our version of Spaghetti Western Desert Rock.

It’s awesome because we don’t have a huge label behind us, or all these sponsors to help get us all this stuff. No, we have all our friends and a  community of people that believe in what we do and genuinely want to see us succeed. People like CBFREELA NPO, FLAR Entertainment., Bernard (Only The Lonely), Thai Cowboy, Patrick Kaldone, Grand Ole Country Bunker, Ben Reddell, & everyone who comes to our shows, buys our merch, reposts us on social media, and streams our music. To me that’s better than anything an industry contract can give. So to answer your question, we are well into the summer of this tour, and it’s been a blessed exciting ride so far, but we ain’t done yet!

Q:  What are you’re future goals/plans as an artist and for the label?

A:  The Lion Heart future plans is to spread this Glory sound as far and west as we can go. We love playing live, so the more opportunities to do that on different levels and stages is what we are looking forward to. I want people to hear Glory West or at least have the opportunity to hear our music. We don’t expect to be everyone’s cup of tea, but we ain’t looking to be loved by everyone, rather find the folk who really rock with us & focus on blessing them. God willing there’s more of y’all out there.
As for our independent label FLAR Entertainment owned by myself, Kami (12X00AM), and ITS ASHA, we plan on continuing to release good music, with a good message out into the world. And continuing to partner with like hearted creatives.
Q:  What’s one piece of advice you would give your 18 yr old self?
A:  I would have told my 18 year old self a few things. First, don’t marry that man he ain’t good for you. 2nd don’t waste ten years in college trying to figure out what to do. Trade schools for specialized training is way better in the long run & more cost effective. 3rd put your trust in God because when the world begins to burn all around you, you’d be wise to put your faith in someone higher than yourself. For Jesus Christ sake just throw yourself into faith now, it’s gon’ happen at some point in your life, just get over yourself lol. Oh and one more thing. One day you’re going to love Country music I promise, it’ll be the best thang you ever did! God bless x Glory West!
