I think the best thing to ever happen to artists was Instagram. Yeah I said it. I used to go to libraries and look at books just to see art, until Juxtapoz Magazine came out and then Instagram happened. What my ex boyfriend thought was hours of looking at dudes and their dicks was me actually scouring the earth for art. Finally, one compact place where I can look at art for hours without dealing with pretentious art people and having to dress up to get inspired.
I was doing my daily ritual of looking at art when a Mojave Flea sponsored ad came up with a picture that captured my attention. Good job Meta, that shit works. Their poster cover was art by @saintnoforever and I was enamored. BTW, don't let the FLEA part of Mojave Flea trading post make you think that there is anything flea about it. It is a high end collective of artists and the price points are pretty high, no shade.
Back to my new favorite artist......
S A I N T N O
he/him

"He is a contemporary American artist. He mixes traditional American imagery, archetypes, clichés, and modern mythology, to examine the self and the West through a contemporary lens." Taken from his bio on saintno.com.
You know art is good as an artist when you say you wish you came up with that style, or painted those pieces. It's me, I'm that artist. The composition is perfect in all of his works and the simplicity but yet bold choices of the color he uses is what captures the eye.
Is it me in the painting? Sort of. It looks like a latina (me) who has tattoos and wears wide brimmed hats (also me) with resting bitch face. Having lived in the desert for the last 27 years, I relate to the cacti, scorpions, and the western vibes of all his pieces.
I didn't have the lips to ask him for an interview because I fan girl'ed out when I went to his opening last Thursday in Palm Springs. He was surrounded by people and I didn't want to interrupt. I know I'm a pussy and need to be better at that.
He is my pick for Artist of the Week. I hope you enjoy his work as much as I do.
